Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector- 45B, Chandigarh successfully organized a 7- Day and Night Special NSS camp from 24 th -30th January 2025. Over 100 volunteers actively participated in a range of activities focusing on personal development and community service. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Praveen Goyal, NSS Programme Coordinator, Panjab University, and Ms. Sonia Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, Panjab University, Chandigarh, along with the college Principal Prof. (Dr.) Neeru Malik. The camp was designed to focus on the holistic development of the students, with a strong emphasis on mental and physical health. Sessions on self-defence training, mental health awareness, first-aid training, women’s health and CPR training, and digital health literacy were conducted to equip the students with valuable skills for their well-being and to raise awareness regarding the same. Workshops on photography, colour therapy and Beauty and grooming were also organised which aimed at personal growth and development of the students. During the camp, the 76 th Republic day of India was also celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The students and volunteers expressed their commitment to nation building by singing patriotic songs and exhibiting posters themed on National pride and unity. In line with the "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan," a rally promoting cleanliness was organized, raising awareness about hygiene and the importance of maintaining clean surroundings. One of the mostim pactful initiatives of the camp was a Free medical camp, where a team of esteemed doctors from top institutions in Chandigarh provided medical services to over 200 residents of the adopted village, Burail. This initiative underscored the NSS commitment to community service and social responsibility. On the concluding day, the event was graced by Prof. Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent of PGIMER, Chandigarh, and Nodal Head of Rotto North, as the Chief Guest, while Prof. (Dr.) Agnese Dhillon, Secretary, Dev Samaj College for Women, and Sh. Maanvinder Singh Mangat, Joint Secretary, Dev Samaj College for Women, Chandigarh, served as the Guests of honor. The college Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Neeru Malik, delivered an inspiring address, encouraging the volunteers to continue serving society and to lead by example within their communities. On the occasion of the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, also celebrated as Martyr’s day, she encouraged the students and volunteers to become responsible citizens of the country and contribute to nation building through their selfless services. The 7-day camp proved to be a transformative experience for all volunteers, empowering them with new skills and knowledge while making a meaningful contribution to the community. The success of the camp was made possible due to the collective efforts of the volunteers and the able guidance from the Programme Officers Ms. Ruchi Arora, Ms. Savkirat Kaur, and Dr. Nisha Singla and the support of the college administration.
